REUTERS: ISRAELI FIRM CLAIMS WORLD’S SMALLEST NEW TESTAMENT December 16, 2019 – Posted in: press
An Israeli company aims to break the Guinness World Record for the smallest Bible, with a nano chip that can be embedded in jewelry. Tara Cleary reports.
Developed in Israel by the Jerusalem Nano Bible Company, this is arguably the world’s smallest printed New Testament. TowerJazz Semiconductor provided technical and manufacturing know-how and the company’s CEO, Russell Ellwanger says it’s a significant achievement. SOUNDBITE: Russell Ellwanger, CEO, TowerJazz Semiconductor, saying (English): “In every one of these squares, which is about 1,000 of these squares on an eight inch silicon wafer, there is a little bit more than one thousand Bibles.” Each side of the square chip measures less than 5 millimeters – that’s about one fifth of an inch – and contains the original Greek version of the New Testament. Jerusalem Nano Bible Company’s David Almog says the chip could become a fashion statement. SOUNDBITE: David Almog, Jerusalem Nano Bible Company, marketing and sales department, saying (English): “Our aim is to be able to mass produce it and cater to really every pocket. Because this smallest Bible in the world can be applied to infinite possibilities in the jewelry industry.” The company plans to also produce a nano sized Old Testament. And while the concept sounds cool, reading these scriptures could prove almost as challenging as following them.
